EXPERT
EVIDENCE

Lawyer in Toronto

Normally, witnesses in a criminal trial will testify to what they saw, heard, or what they did. Expert evidence is a type of evidence that goes beyond the expert’s personal observations or actions, that is permitted because of the expert’s special training or experience.  If a witness is qualified as an expert, he or she is then permitted to give ‘opinion’ evidence in a matter within his or her expertise.  Experts who give evidence in court include pathologists, psychiatrists, accountants, accident reconstructionists, fingerprint experts, DNA experts, firearms examiners, and many others.  Misha has experience both cross examining experts and bringing expert evidence to a variety of criminal trials.
